Propagation was poor but spirits seemed high and the contest was fun. Lots of
pleasant surprises, like tripping on J28OO on Sunday high up in the band, or
catching KG6DX on Sunday evening just as the band closed. A few unpleasant
surprises as well, like hearing SU9NC managing his pileup while knowing I
didnâ??t have a chance of breaking through, or the great difficulty in working
JA with low power from New England at this point in the solar cycle.
I set out to work 900 Qâ??s and score at least 350K and I managed to achieve
both goals. Many constructive lessons were learned along the way.
The radio was an ICOM 7800 running 100W and the antenna was 5-over-5 at 15m and
30m. Software was N1MM.
