Comments:

Typical lack of conditions. Nothing new to report. First time I entered a mixed
contest so the CW part was new to me. Not sure I am ready for CW contesting yet
but it was still fun.

Had a few problems, In the middle of a good domestic run on 20m phone, I
started getting RF feedback back into my microphone. Turned out to be a bad
shield on the PTT lead.

On 40m I found I was getting RF into the Home theater system. It seems the
speakers leads for the rear channels are almost exactly 1/4 wavelength at 40m.
My wife and children wante dto use the system so that meant using 25Watts on
40m on Saturday night. I was surprised how good the conditions were. I found i
could work everybody I could hear across Canada or the US with the 25 watts.
However it was not enough to break the pile up for the ZS stations. It was also
enough to be heard by a VK, a ZL and RD3A. 40m was the only band with DX
propagation for this contest. Although no EU or AS stations were heard.

20m provided a brief opening to EU but no RU stations were heard.

15m had weak openings to deep South America.

10m might as well have been 23 GHz, about the same amount of propagation.

Only 2 more feet of snow to melt and then probably a month longer before the
ground thaws deep enough to put the tower base in. Wait til next year :)
