I knew ahead of time I wouldn't be on this year - too many other things to do
this weekend. So I encouraged a couple of friends (WB2ABD and W2TB) to make an
effort and maybe bring home a certificate. The forecast for Saturday was rain,
high winds and thunderstorms. They were right. The thunderstorms would have QRT
me for more than two hours and then I got the obligatory power outage for
another hour or so that would have really dampened my effort. Conditions were
putrid this time so in hindsight it probably was a good year to take off. On
the positive side, it appears my CW record will stand! Hope to be on for it
next year.
