Comments:
Our first portable effort for the UHF contest. We had great tropo in the middle
of the night. Worked AG4V 222 through 3456 in EM55(missed on 2304, tho) One QSO
on laser from the hill to the parking area was cool, too!
There are several bugs and kinks to be resolved before next year. Our noise on
903 was 20 over and it really hurt our counts on this band. We should have
worked many more grids on 903 and up, but equipment issues and QRN made it
difficult. Next year H and I will be part of the setup.
Thanks to all of the rovers who used $4 fuel. The rovers accounted for 61 of
our 237 Qs.
It was nice to see so many people visit the site. We should have kept a visitor
log as we had at least 35 visitors over the weekend. The police at 3am, don't
count as visitors. Although when we told them that we worked Alabama on 903MHz
and their 800mhz radios have a hard time hearing across town, they seemed
interested!
Our original goal was 200Qs and 80 mults, so we were pleased with the effort.
It is always the "what if" that drives us, so we will be back in Aug 2009 and
smaller efforts in the Sept, Jan and Jun contests!
Thanks for all the contacts!
