Following the ARRL RTTY round-up earlier in the year, I knew I would have to get
SO2R ready to put in a serious effort, which in this contest, although the
second interface was home brew in AFSK I reckon it added 30% onto my score.
My poorest band was 40m (it was the second main band to be on) with only a
inverted V dipole up at this time, and my biggest problem was staying awake and
seated in the chair, when ever I worked a new mult it would give me an extra
burst of energy.
10m was dead, but checked on it about every hour of the both days, at 19:54 on
the Sunday I heard LU1HF very strong, I worked him and went down a little and
immediately started to call CQ, my heart was racing as whatever came back out
of South America they were going to be a new multiplier, I logged a CT9 and a
EA8 and the propagation was gone again.
