I live in a no outside antenna sub-division. Put up a 40 long wire tacked to
roof of the house. Despite it being a very basic antenna, it loaded well on 15,
20 and 40, and worked better than expected on 80M. I worked Hawaii and Alaska
with it on 40M, and both coasts on 80. My goal was to work 75 sections for the
pin - done by Sunday morning. Maybe a sweep is possible with this antenna... I
found VY1EI early Sunday afternoon CQing away on 14.076 without any callers.
What a lucky break! At that point I thought I can do it. But ended up missing
Oklahoma and Louisana, of all things! Heard both sections early on in the
contest, but passed them over thinking I would log work them later. None of the
sections are a "sure thing" until in the log.
