Comments:
Only limited time was available for me this year, and I couldn't seem to make
much happen when I did get some opportunities to operate. The TH6DXX @ 50' was
stuck pointing north, the low G5RV really thumped the electronics throughout
the house, and the QRN was S9 on all bands...but SS CW remains my favorite
contest by far, and I'll be better prepared next year....
SS 2009 will mark the 50th year since KN0UTX (now W0UN), KN0VXU (now K0VXU) and
KN0VBU operated our first SS - Crystal controlled, 75 watts, low dipole at
KN0UTX's place here in Kansas City. We pooled our ancient equipment (even by
'59 standards), and were off to the races. At the end of the contest we had
amassed 75 Q's, and we were proud of it! If the three of us can get together
again in 2009, we promise to double that qso count!
As usual, it was great to hear all of our old friends, and some new ones this
