The bands were in rough shape -- maybe as bad as they've been in the past few
years. 20M was the best band and even it was horrid. I ended up taking an hour
off at 1900z. 20M was better from 2000z to 2130z, when I took my next break --
two hours. Probably hurt me a bit to leave 20M so early, but it wasn't
producing Qs, 15M wasn't showing any signs of life, and getting all my off time
out of the way would mean more evening hours. After all, 80M has been great
lately.

Was on at 2338z and hit 40M. It was total junk, so after trying for nearly two
hours on 40M I took another break, knowing 80M wouldn't warm up till well after
dark. But when I got back on just after 0200z, neither 40M or 80M had anything
going. Called many, many CQs on both bands with no answers. Nobody was really
strong up here in B.C. and most were almost too weak to work.

Had hoped to get some of the close-in mults on 80M but they just weren't there
-- should have had the easy ones like ID, MT, OR, WA, WY, AB and BC but
conditions wouldn't allow it.

Dug out what I could on 160M (CA, ID, NV, OR, UT and WA) and took another hour
off at 0309z.

Made a few more Qs on 80M and 160M in the final half hour, but it was barely
worth getting back on.

Must thank the other Aurora Busters for joining in... VE4EAR, VE6CNU, VO1KVT,
VY2SS. Hope they had more fun than I did in this one. It was hard digging, and
that made it difficult to stay in the chair.
