Comments:
Not quite a full contest effort. With the dry arctic air upon us Saturday and
S9 line noise on 6 and 2M it was impossible to operate until some warmer, more
humid air from the SW arrived Saturday evening and calmed down the power poles.
Sunday I played nurse and clean up specialist at times. Both my wife and cat
were sick and throwing up (wife 3 times and cat 8 times). My cat always choose
the carpet! I missed a sked because of those duties. The last two hours of the
test my rotor for the 6M and 432 beams stuck south. Missed another sked.
Conditions were flat, flat, flat especially on 432 where I could not work some
stations I normally do. With 1296 working barely at all and 2304 not working
and the 902 antenna on the floor of the shack, I was really not ready for the
contest. I have a herniated disc and can not do the climbing and repairs I
otherwise would have done. Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite contests
even after all these years!
