Comments:
It was good to be active again on the bands after an 8mos hiatus caused by a bad
storm ripping the top of the VHF tower off. There were no injuries or damage
beyond the tower and antennas, so I counted my blessings and set about
rebuilding everything. I finished the work up in early November, just before
the snow started falling.
I put up the same antennas but upgraded the feedline from LMR-600 to LDF-7. I
also got rid of the water logged 9913 on the 6m antenna and replace it with
LDF-5. These changes were well worth it.
Conditions on Saturday seemed poor and activity was up-and-down, but mostly
down. Sunday was definitely better.
My best DX was catching K2DRH on 6m on Sunday morning then working him on all 5
bands. I'm sure this is old hat to many, but working 350 miles with 10w and a
25el yagi on 1296 is pretty cool.
All the equipment was working well - just a few minor glitches here and there.
Thanks to everyone for the contacts.
73,
Ron (W8RU).
