Turn on the WAY-BACK MACHINE: It was fun working stations in the counties we
used to drive through on our way from Iowa to the family cabin built by my
grandfather in 1926 -- located on Buck Lake which connects to Cass Lake. 1953:
electricity arrives in the woods; "helped" dad wire the cabin. 1967 or so: on
the air with a BC-348, hb 6AG7-6DQ6 rig (my Valiant wouldn't fit in the trunk)
and wire down to the dock 1970: dipole and Ten-Tec PM-1 (use an Orion today.)
Fun place, good walleyes, downside: poison ivy and the Minnesota state bird --
the mosquito.
Thanks to all the mobiles! Heard a few stations on 20-meter backscatter, but
couldn't work 'em. Lots of fun. 73, John
