Comments:
This time I prepared my station few hours before the contest. Sound board,
antenna, logging program all worked fine.
My first QSO was right at 22:00 with N3IQ and he said I am strong but I could
not finish my second one because the SWR sky rocketed. Turned out that my
dipoleâ??s guy wire broke...:-) It was plus 8 Celsius in Toronto in the morning
but at five o'clock when I went outside to look at the antenna it was minus 20
!! It does not take long to fix the problem but in minus 20 I had to hurry up.
I was back on air at 22:26. The band sounded very noisy with a lot of weak
signals. Not much from the West Coast all night long. Some Eu signals however
were good. F6CTT was the strongest station at my place.
Second night was better for US with strong and clean signals. West Coast came
up too but EU was nowhere to be heard from my place.
I am sorry that I had to give up on many of the callers but QRM and noise were
a bad mixture at my place. It was like pulling my teeth when I had to let the
weak stations go...:-) I worked 15 countries which is more than I was
expecting. It was nice to be called by VP2E and NP4A.
VE stations were well represented in this contest. 10% of the QSOs were from
VE.
