Comments:
Travelled to the 6Y1V contest site in Jamaica to operate as 6Y8XF. The set-up at
6Y1V was great. It's a superb location for both VE and the UK.
It could have been a BERU-winning score from there, but it was not to be. Over
five hours were lost due to power cuts. That's a big chunk of a 24-hour
contest! Finished up with 945 QSOs, which was 6% less than the 1,000 made from
VQ5XF (2008) and 12% less than the 1,074 made from V25XF (2007).
Three items from my contest scratch-pad:
1. I initially mis-copied VY1EI as "UY1EI". That could have a serious mistake
on my part!
2. A large raspberry for the Commonwealth station who refused to work me,
saying that I was "not BERU". I guess he was copying me as BY8XF instead of
6Y8XF!
3. Handling persistent non-BERU callers politely is a challenge. I guess I
sometimes failed at this. One persistent non-BERU station (on finally giving up
calling) said "I will NEVER call you again"!
BERU is Great.....BERU is Unique!
