Comments:

Score is with the X 1.5 low power addition.

Thanks to Randy, KB9KEG, for putting together the team effort again this year.
He does a great job of getting the word out and trying to encourage some of the
new operators to get on and have fun. Thanks also to W9BCV for letting me come
a few miles down the road and enjoy a Sunday afternoon of radio.

Looking at some of the posts already on here, I think activity and scores are
going to be way up this year. This score would have been an easy winner in SO
Fixed last year but we will see how things shake out. I have a feeling there
are going to be some big scores from alot of the WI big guns!

Great mobile activity again and a big thanks to those who put out all the
counties. I managed 62 counties this year. When planning for this one, I
realized I wanted to do 2 things better, more CW QSO's and increase my mults if
I wanted to be competitive. This meant listening for the mobiles more and I
made my top county total this year. I also am up 90 CW QSO's from last year
and it shows in the score. Phone QSO's were about even and increased by 5 this
year.

I worked a total of 42 states. I missed HI and AK but not for lack of effort.
I CQed on 20 for a good hour with the beam out that way and just could not stir
one up. The good rate from west coast stations kept me on 20 longer than I
planned to be. Missed ND and AR, the first of which can be expected but the
latter which I should have found. Finally, missed about the entire Atlantic NE
and not sure where they were. Had 3 NH and 2 MA call in for my only NE qso's.
Never heard VT, CT, ME or RI. Had VE1OP call in off the back of the beam on 20
for one of his few qso's and was glad to pick up Scott for that one up NE!

Other provinces besides NS were ON, MB and BC. Thanks to the two MB that
called in and put it on, always a tough one for me. I thought I stumbled into
the BC QSO party for awhile and must have worked 20 to 30 BC stations, good
turnout!

Numerous "highlights" in this one and was pleased with the effort and had a
great time. Can not really think of any "low" points to address in the
writeup. My humored moment for the day had to be playing voice recognition on
80M when I went back to a station "looking for any WI stations" as his tail. I
replied, knowing full well that the southern accent was that of N4PN and I
needed him. After ending with "thanks Paul", John, K4BAI was quick to point
out "your welcome, but this is John". As it turned out, needed him there too
and all was well, but produced a good laugh for me. Also, very few dupes on
80M calling in this year which helped spread out the piles with unique calls
and helped greatly!

Managed two 2 meter QSO's, one here in Dodge County and a second to the east in
Washington county in about the 5 minutes I was up there.

Always had a good string to work when changing bands and I appreciate everyone
taking time out of their Sunday to work us WI guys. This is by far my best
turnout in this one and the efforts of all who called in made it happen!

See you all in a few weeks in WPX SSB!

73,

Ryan KB9OWD
