Comments:

A very low key operation. Mostly wanted to get away for a while and to test out
some new station automation gear I designed.

Having done WPX CW a few years back, I knew how poor summer propagation is from
8P. I was under no illusion that I would be very competitive but it turned out
to be a bit worse than I expected. The bands open very late and it is hard to
get any rate going until mid afternoon (18Z). I tried to anticipate this by
taking nearly all of my off time during daylight hours but, with sunrise at
930Z, there were too many unproductive hours. Nonetheless, the good hours were
a lot of fun. Great to see all the prefixes.

It was amazing to see the US stations' QSO totals. Also, not only was it
incredible how many stations were giving serial numbers over 1000, there were a
significant number that already had over 1000 when I worked them the first
time.

Spent a lot of time calling guys on the second radio as it was hard to get runs
going. A funny incident happened when I tuned across K3WW calling CQ in 20 on
my second radio. I had a station answer my CQ on 15 so I did not get a chance
to call him. The next guy to call me on 15 was K3WW on his second radio.
After we completed the QSO, I turned right around and called him 20.

Congratulations to the many great scores out there from EF8M, 4L0A, and
especially VY2TT from North America.

73, Tom W2SC
