Comments:
Another good year on six meters, but a real bummer on the other bands. I
operated QRP portable near North Sioux City, South Dakota. I was on a flat
site, which contributed to the problem on two and above. Fortunately, six was
open to many places and I suppose the highlight was working a total of 105
grids on six. I did so with 163 QSOS, for a Q/G ratio of about 1.5. This is a
very low Q/G ratio, indicating that the band was open to many areas, but few
heavily populated grids. A low ratio is also typical of a QRP operation in
which one has to dig, scrape, shout (even on cw), grovel, beg, etc. to make
contacts. As usual, I appreciate the many other ops were willing to work hard
to dig me out of the noise.
