RIG: Ten Tec Omni VII, Ameritron ALS-600 (400-500 watts)
ANTENNA: 176' Center fed at 60'

I really didn't want to do much in this contest after two weekends in November
devoted to SS so I thought I'd just do a little 80 and 160 and maybe work a new
band entity or two. I started out on 80 and propagation was fairly good. 160
was OK but my antenna is very lacking on that band and I was only able to work
a few so I tried 40. I banged out about 60 countries in short order on 40 and
thought maybe I'd try to work at least 100 countries on that band. Then I was
hooked! 15 meters was pretty good and 20 was it's normal self but I missed a
lot of daytime operating both Saturday and Sunday with college football on TV
on Saturday and yard work on Sunday. 10 meters was pretty much a no show here.
I saw a lot of spots but could only hear a very few of the stations spotted so
I didn't spend much time on 10. My wire must have too many lobes on 10 all
going in the wrong directions!

99% of my time was spent in S&P mode. I just could not get a good run going on
either 40 or 80 which were my best bands. At the peak of propagation I could get
50 to 60 station per hour in S&P mode and running was not that productive! I
listened to some of the big guns running stations one after another but there
is no way I could even come close to that.

All in all this was my best CQWW CW contest in years. I blew away my last
years score by over 241,000 points with 124 more QSO's. That was mainly due to
more B.I.C. time! I was also pleased to get over 100 countries on 40 which was
one of my goals. Thanks for the Q's. I hope to see you in the ARRL 160 and 10
meter contests. I hope I can hear some stations on 10 and that we get some
really good band openings.

73,
Puck
