Comments:

Rig: FT-990, Rigblaster Pro, WriteLog V10.69D
Antenna: DX Engineering 43 foot Vertical with Base auto tuner. 12 radials
from 32' to 65' long.

This is the first international contest that this antenna has been used to
operate. While the antenna "shined" for the SS contests the compromise is more
obviously at a disadvantage for CQWW where so many stations run very high power
and large antenna systems.

The old antenna, under similar propagation in 2008 and 2007 (a low inverted
vee) resulted in about 50% lower scores and 100 fewer contacts each year. I am
pleased to have doubled the score.

Noise was not an issue in this contest, lots of weak signals given the zero
sunspot count. I think the lower signals contribute to the inability to get
any kind of run going. 80 countries overall were worked -- another 70 or so
were called but not able to bust pileups.
