Icom 765 @ 100 watts
Antennas: 160M Inverted Vee, 160 Inverted L, 660' CF Wire & 425' EF Wire.
The dedicated coaxial fed 160 meter antennas are the best but the other two
multi-band long wires come in handy now and again.
All went well except out of nowhere the VCO for 160 began acting up half way
through the contest. The temporary remedy was to shut the rig down for a few
seconds. I had to resort to doing this a bunch of times for the last half of
the contest; twas annoying. Time for a rig fix.
Had a great time as usual but I'm certainly going to give an K9AY receiving
antenna a hard look for next year's event. I'm sure the XYL won't might the
thing in the back yard for a few contests a year.
Conditions were quite good; lots of signals on the band both nights. California
seemed elusive: I didn't hear many of them & missed a number of CA's sections.
73,
Dick, K2ZR
