TS-850 to Windom at 45', 51' T for 160
This has always been a well-timed contest - nice to say "Merry Christmas" to VE
friends. This year, what they are calling the "Shopping Stopper of 2009"
snowstorm hit the Maryland area starting Friday night, so Saturday was a great
day for playing radio. Snow fell all day and we ended up with about 2 feet on
the ground. I kept alternating between the RAC and 9A tests, with periodic
trips outside to keep the heat pump compressor units clear of snow.
With the solar flux up a bit, conditions on 15 were probably better than the
activity there - the VE6s and VE7s that were on 15 were LOUD. I heard two
"divide by five" snowbirds on: VE8EV and VE3CZF both /J6. I heard someone say
to VE8EV: "I sure wish you were in NWT." His reply" "I sure don't."
