Comments:
Being a snowbird down in Florida this winter, I decided to be a rover with my
mobile Icom 706mk2g with only vertical 1/4 wave whips on 50, 144 & 432 MHz.
I was hoping for a 6 meter opening - no such luck. Conditions were flat/poor -
no coastal tropo either due to onshore winds from the SE. There are NO BIG
HILLS down here to drive too - best I could do was to find parking near a water
canal/road overpass to gain some 20-30 ft of altitude. Fortunately, I didn't
have any interaction with the local police.
My hats off to the trouble & expense the big rover stations go through doing
their thing. Having now done it for just 2 grids & 20 Q's, I realy appreciate
the dedication they have. See you all in June from FN30kv back home. 73's,
George.
