Comments:

The highlight this year was some good but difficult runs to the West Coast on
both mornings, including three(!) VE6s and VE7, always hard going from the UK.
These were so engrossing and lasted so long that I kept delaying looking around
for mults until it was getting light and really too late. Signal levels were
quite a bit down on 2009, with widespread deep and rapid fading often making
repeats necessary - many thanks guys for sticking with it, especially to Lee
VE7CC, who took me several attempts to resolve. Activity seemed lacking from
the Caribbean with several of the usual mults missing. It was really hard to
find a usable slot in the JA sub-band during their opening to Europe, with all
the racket going on.

Overall, a modest improvement on 2009, but well below my target of 1500 QSOs
and 1.2 million points.

The shack temperature crept up from below freezing to around 40F after a few
hours, so apologies for the often rubbish paddling from my stiff and shaking
fingers . . .

An interesting ploy appeared a couple of times this year after I'd eventually
established a slot - someone would come up and asked politely if I'd mind
moving. I did this the first time thinking maybe I was covering DX I couldn't
hear, only to see the requester proceed to occupy the channel himself half a
minute later!

Kit:
Orion II, 400W.
250 ft wire, sloping down to the shack from a sequoia tree, fed against ground.
This also serves for receiving, but the location is fairly quiet. The slope
being towards the NW, results are quite good to the US and Canada, but not
really competitive in most other directions.
Logger - paper, pencil and SD to (eventually) produce the entry file.

73, Peter G3LET
