I watched IonoProbe in amazement during the event. Not only were SSN and
"effective SSN" higher than I've seen, but so was SFI, peaking at 96. For a
while, effective SSN exceeded SSN. Mathematics are wonderful, no? The real
pudding were observed conditions. 15 meters was truly open and stable--no
dependence on Es. Too bad more ops didn't make the move from 20 to 15 to enjoy
it, but many got the word on Sunday compared to Saturday. Twenty opened to EU
earlier than in recent weeks remained open until well after EU sunset.

The sequence to remember: running on 20 after EU sundown, G3YBY surprised me
with a surprisingly loud signal, considering the 4 el yagi wasn't pointing at
northern EU. With him in the log, and a couple of Qs later, here comes VK3FM
with even a louder signal, and the very next Q in the log is ZS2EZ. Did the
yagi become a vertical?? This op hasn't experienced things like this before,
but he's read about 10 meters back in the mid to late 1950's! What's in store
in the near future?

In the final two hours of the event, the "Two By One Callsign Club" held a
rally and provided a surprising number of Qs while offering serial numbers less
than 100. Many of them were mults, too. To the Club Officers: thank you!
Your membership is certainly welcome to join WPX events where your prefixes are
certainly more valuable than a boring one like mine! But don't stop at
WPX--join the action in the other big ones, too!

Special thanks go to CQ Magazine for their support and sponsorship. Now, on to
WPX CW!
