Welcome back sunspots!!
My first time operating in Belize and first time as a single op in a DX contest
in many years. I did get a little sleep each night, keeping my usual M/S hours.
Even with a modest station, the great conditions kept me going. The only down
side was that we had no 10 meter opening on Sunday. It was frustrating to hear
some other Caribbean stations running guys who were inaudible here. Mults were
higher than most of our previous M/S efforts even with no VO2s or VE8s worked.
Thanks to W3DQ and co. for the DC mult clean sweep.
Had plans for something resembling an SO2R station, but it was not meant to be
as I blew up a borrowed power supply before the contest began (apologies to
W4MY). Only other technical glitches involved a couple computer freeze-ups and
reboots that I think were caused by the Belizian nighttime "no-see-um" biting
insects that also make my legs resemble leprosy at the moment.
I'm tired now after flying all day, and questioning my sanity for leaving 82
degrees and palm trees on the beach for 38 degrees and drizzle in Raleigh...
