Comments:

I agree that conditions were better than they had been in awhile. It's
especially evident from here in the northeast when the short path is open to JA
in the afternoon and Europeans are still workable well into their evening. A
special treat, associated with better conditions, is the ability to work OH
well into our evening here but I did not observe much contest activity from
there (though OH8X and OH8L were beacons for the whole weekend). And it's a
thrill to work Southeast Asia in the mornings (thanks to all you HSÃ?'s who
responded to my CQs).

It's worth reflecting on the many great ops who get on for these events and I'm
always impressed by the large number of QRP entrants from Europe and JA. Nice
job to all of them, and thanks for the points. It was great getting called by
7XÃ?MT, running QRP.

Dupes are always a frustration and the situation there seems to degrade each
year. It would be easy to try to label one group as the primary offenders, but
the problem seems widespread. Once a guy has worked you 3-4 times you'd figure
that was enough. Also slows you down to get called by W/K stations but hey,
they must feel they're doing you a favor so hunker down and work them and let
them move on.

Radio here was a K3 and an ACOM 2000A, primary antenna was 2x5el monoband
stack, "back up" antenna was a Skyhawk tribander. QTH on salt water probably
helps.

See you all next year!

Mike, W1MU
