I moved into a new QTH and just recently threw a wire out to the back corner of
the yard from an upstairs window, not sure of the length, about 80 or 90 feet.
I end fed the wire using an MFJ tuner and grounded it with the cold water pipe
in the bathroom. I was amazed it tuned up on 160 with 100w and no RF problems
in the shack. I did a quick hour of S/P and worked 13 states, even heard KP4,
XE2, and a couple of W6's.
Rig: IC-7000 100w
Ant: about 80 ft end fed wire, about 20 ft high at the feed point, sloping down
to 10 ft.
