Comments:
I was glad to have full time operators Jim, VE7FO, Neil, VA7DX and Les, VA7RN
join me in operating this contest. Our congratulations go to VE7SV for beating
us again, but we feel good about the much closer margin than usual.
We had an issue with the 170 foot tower rotator that prevented us from using
the new 40M beam, which was stuck pointed at EU for the last 4 hours of the
first night. It started working again after giving the motor a turn by hand
after dawn. One cable connector splice on the 80M coax carbonized for the
second time at about 3AM Saturday so we ran low power until I replaced it with
a solder splice also at dawn Saturday. Thankfully there were not any more
equipment issues.
The band conditions were challenging but we still had fun. Our thanks go to
all the stations that called us.
73, Duane VE7UF
