Comments:
The NAQP just keeps getting better and better !
Despite dire predictions, no local thunderstorms, which allowed me to chose my
own off-times. In fact, it was the least-stormiest day since I got back from
WRTC-2010.
10 meters was very disappointing. Only one short Es opening around 23Z. Strange
to work nothing but KY, TN, AL, GA, ....and VE9DX ? Go figure.
15 was great during the first hour, with a combination of F-layer and Es, but
virtually dead after that.
20 was the money band. The rate stayed great there, even when most of the
activity had moved to 40. It was hard to pull myself away around 0130Z.
40 was surprisingly tough out here. My 50 foot high dipole was as good, or
better, than the 4 elements at 110 feet. Sounds like I need a lower beam for
summertime domestic contests. Tested the beam this morning on Asian DX - 10 dB
better than the dipole, so at least the beam isn't broken.
80 was better than expected. I could hear and be heard. There sure were
thunderstorms somewhere, just not visible from here.
160 was the usual tough band from here in the SW corner of New Mexico. Worked
everything I heard. Just didn't hear much, even with beverages.
Tried to move many multipliers to bands that seemed open, but the moves failed.
Not sure what's up with that. Thanks to my good friend, and great CW op, WA5Y
for running the bands with me. At least I didn't miss my own state on any band
this time.
Thanks to everyone for the QSO's. See you in January.
73,
Steve, N2IC
