what a mess...
the bad started about an hour prior to dark here. Thought it would be good to
tighten and slightly raise the 20M 3-el delta loop beam. NOT. Next thing I
knew the other dipole along the rope 40ft behind the delta beam snapped from an
insulator. Replaced it and it did it again, only this time the rope snapped
back up the tree, dangling at 35 ft... aluminum poles, baseball w/ string
(yeah, trying to toss it through a loop in the antenna rope, lol), those got
stuck in the tree too. Ended up hooking the end of the rope that was on the
baseball to the old Farmall 504 and broke the rope, baseball still in tree...
damn. Tried again, this time the eye-screw in the baseball ripped out,
baseball fell, etc. Still didn't get the antenna rope. Ended up using a tree
trimmer w/ pole extended standing on tractor seat... FINALLY, a 20M antenna
20M was awesome, best in weeks here. Many were booming loud. Of any night,
this was the one to make big things happen, I envisioned a 60+ night. Flubbed
that idea up on the low bands... brains were doing flips, fingers moving slow.
Conditions were also good on 80 here, but 160 seemed hollow.
CUL, maybe NA SSB (yuk :))
