Comments:
Thanks to Kenny AB4GG and his wife Kathy W4KRY for letting me come over and
operate on short notice. They always make me feel right at home when I operate
a contest from their house.
Conditions were poor and noisy with local showers adding to the QRN on all
bands. Never heard a signal on 15 or 10 meters. 20 meters went long early, with
loud signals from W6 and VE1 but not much else. VP9/NM6E worked at about 9pm
local was the best signal heard on 20. 40 was productive but the noise crept up
from about S5 all day to S9+ at night. 80 and 160 were as expected during the
summer. I tried SO2R on SSB for the first time, generally felt like I did ok
during the day between 20 and 40, but was a little harder at night with all the
noise in each ear. Had many repeat requests for my name.
Hope everyone tunes in for the Tennessee QSO Party in 2 weeks, will be active
as a mobile with W4NZ. All 95 counties will be active in the contest.
73, Erik N5WR
