Comments:

Started off great, had 77 sections in the log when I got tired and shut down at
0323 Saturday night...All I needed was NT, NE and PR...Looking back, I should
have stayed up an extra hour Saturday night as 80m was hopping and another 45
QSO's would have given me the score I was looking for...

Sunday started off great too, but the late afternoon and early evening was
poison...Things got sloooow...I hit the 1,000 Q mark at 2229z and still had 4+
hours to log only 65 more to get me where I wanted to be...The next hour and a
quarter bagged only 23 QSO's, so I got fed up and took the dog for a walk in an
effort to wake up...That was it for me...4 hours left on the table that I should
have used more efficiently, but so it goes...

9 MAR-based MCC'ers in the log: VA1CHP, VA1MM, VE1AI, VE1DT, VE1RGB, VE1RSM,
VE9AA, VY2SS and VY2ZM...Looks like MCC should do well in the Club Competition
this year...One other MAR station as well (VE9DX), for a total of 10...I can
remember years when I used to sweat about getting MAR for the sweep...Don't
think we'll have to worry about that too much any more...

I swung the beam NW at 1430z, hoping to catch a NT station looking around and
sure enough VY0JA called in at 1448z...Then NE called in a few hours later to
complete all 80...I don't ever remember NE being a tough one...

Most worked sections:

IL - 45
MN - 42
MDC - 41
OH - 39
SCV - 36

Only one each of NT, PR and NE...

It continues to amaze me at all the A, B, and Q stations that all of a sudden
show up in the pileup that ensues after I've been spotted...Coincidence I
guess, I'm sure others notice this as well...Then there's that US 4-land
station that likes to park 1/4 kc away from me after I've been spotted and
start CQ'in...Same thing every contest...A good waste of 10 minutes getting rid
of him as I'm too stubborn to give in...He's 20 over 9, so he hears me...Must be
another coincidence...C'mon guys, this is a hobby...

The good news is my 80M INV-V now works normally again and no more computer RFI
issues with HP on 40m...Intermittent high SWR on the INV-V was the result of a
PL259 that had all but shaken loose of all electrical contact, and some ferrite
on the keyboard cable to the computer eliminated a pesky problem lately of my
computer being haunted when I'm using HP on 40m...

Fun contest until things got slow...Looking forward to next year...

73,

Scott VE1OP
