Comments:
SSB contesting is very tedious for me. I never enjoy SSB operation as much as
I enjoy CW/RTTY. Nevertheless, I had fun. It was nice to be able to put a
voice to many of the ops that I normally work on CW/RTTY. Some of them
recognized my call from working me previously and took the extra time out for a
personal hello.
On Sunday I ran across a couple instances of piss-poor sportsmanship, the likes
of which I have never encountered previously. Nothing directed at me, but I
was embarrassed to think that a person might associate me with one of these
idiots.
I didn't get a sweep, missing sections that I had no trouble with in SSCW and
picking up sections I couldn't find in SSCW. Didn't work WTX, NE, SB or QC.
Had no problem getting VI, PR, NL, N(W)T. KH7Y seemed to be ever present. I
was really glad to hear all of the AK stations on the air.
I'm sure I sounded like garbage. I used the audio EQ and speech processor,
only because it seems to help people to pull out my 8-call instead of mistaking
me for a 2/3 call. But I'm surprised I didn't get lectured on spectral
purity!
Thanks to everyone that worked me, and especially to those who paused their
normal running and S&P routines to say hi. Hope to hear you all in CQWW DX CW
next week!
