A few hours of cherry picking in 45 minute chunks. Some noise source to the
east of the QTH has made NE and SE on the K9AY rx antenna about the same as
using the tx antenna. Spent most of the time listening NW/SW - not so good for
DX from here.
Worked mostly US east of MS river, but had two surprise calls. Heard what I
thought was a VE calling, unusually weak with QSB, until flipping the rx
antenna direction SW and V31 came up loud and clear. Tnx!
Planned on doing a bit of antenna experimentation between Friday and Saturday,
but that didn't pan out. Somewhat hesitant to make changes- since installing
the improved matching and chokes at the base of the antenna, its got a great
match centered on 1845. Seems to be much better than before - not sure its
going to get much better with 100w.
tnx for the Q's es 73 de w4kaz
