Comments:

Last week I was QRT on account of no power. I did consider going out to the
car, but with 80 and 160 being the really money bands from here and only having
40 and 20 in the car, I declined.

Finally got the months-old problem (bad voltage regulator in control box)
resolved with my 6x2 switch at 0130 UT, then decided to do some other shack
wiring that took me right up to 0220 UT. Noticed that VSWR = 3.0 on 80. Crap.
Plug in dummy load---ok---not 6x2 or W3NQN filter. Ran all over house looking
for shoes and delivered a cup of orange juice to sick/pregnant wife in bed.
Dashed outside to find nothing apparently wrong. Wiggled connections and
reseated PL-259s. Came back inside and VSWR is again 1.1---disaster averted.

40 was a bit disappointing. When I went to 80, nobody could hear me. So, I
looked at the power meter---100 watts---whew---didn't toast any PA drivers.
After the big guns QSOed out, things went much better!

Pleased to work my friend, Bob, KN6X, this week! Welcome!

73,

--Ethan, K8GU/3.
