Comments:

Coming to you from the small but well armed Multi-Two contest station at the
sinister desert hideout of the Arizona Outlaws Contest Club, N7AT.

Single Tower Multi-Two contesting, three ops for two stations, fun....(or are
we just plain nuts?)

N7AT(aka K8IA/N7RQ)was the home of the KC7V Multi-Two CQWPX CW shindig this
weekend. When two of our 5 regular cw ops canceled we knew we were in for an
interesting time. (K1YR operated with his new WH7M callsign from KH6ZM and NA2U
was mostly busy with the holiday weekend and family).

Let's see, Mike KC7V, Guff KS5A and I (Bob K8IA) as the only regular cw ops.
Yeah we could have dragged xyl Sandy N7RQ into the fray but she is more comfy
in ssb contests and keeping the ops well nourished.

Three Ops for Two radios, a serious 48 hour effort. No sweat. Two ops wouild
have been much harder. We decided on a rotating shift schedule of 4 hrs on and
2 hours off for all. Piece of cake. The three of us have no operetd together
many times, get along well, know a few cw characters and contest ok now and
then. It's easy to op with this group. Plus Sandy enjoys cooking for us and has
mentioned our "contest family" many times.

We had no particular goals, just to generate some decent point totals for the
Arizona Outlaws Contest Club and have a good time!

Everything worked well. We had a "moment" with the K9AY Loop switch box hanging
up and a tempermental piece of coax on the SixPak, but no equipment problems for
the radios or amps. Plus the noise was low this weekend. From the start to early
Saturday, all was smooth and productive. Ops were well rested asdn fed and
producing some nice rates. Looking good.

Then it hit, nasty solar conditions. The K and A indices went thru the roof.
The Aurora number was very high too. Nothing to do but settle for mostly
domestic qso's and wait it out. It was a long wait.

The most frustrating time was Saturday evening on 40m. The Au was so strong
that most signals sounded like one long tone, only slightly modulated. Keying
could not be discerned. Signals S9+20 (and more) sounded like a long tone. Ugly
and slow to improve.

Cndx finally improved a bit and we were able to score well. This was especially
gratifying with regard to the simple contest station here. We helped the Arizona
Outlaws and had a great time. Our claimed score favorably compares with the
other highest scores ever in the 7th call area! We like that
