Part-time efforts from my home in downtown Tokyo with small antennas due to work
commitments on Saturday.
I started late Saturday night (local time) for a few hours, and the propagation
seemed okay. However, I woke up on Saturday morning to find that the
geomagnetic storm really affected us. No North America on 15mb at all with
even ZX5J (who is normally S9 plus) around S5 and not hearing me. I never
heard a single NA station on 15mb until the end of the contest. 20mb was not
helpful, either, toward NA and I only managed to work several NA big guns on
40mb.
In summary, this was the worst contest propagation for me in 2 years.
Hopefully, the propagation on 15mb will improve by July when we plan to operate
as 8N1HQ from JG1ZUY station for IARU HF Championship.
