I watched the SFI dropping in the days before the contest and it left
me with a sinking feeling too. That plus the solar storm made this a
difficult contest. I did manage to better my score a bit from the
last time, back in 2009, but I had greater expectations which were
dashed. The WPX-CW is one of my favorite contests, but the 2011
running was nothing to write home about. But then, my mother never
promised me a rose garden.
It was my first time out with the N1MM logger in a CW contest, so
there was a learning curve, but not all that steep. I kept fiddling
with my macros and moving them around on the buttons, especially
the less frequently used macros. Then when I needed one, where was it?
It reminded me of the old church party game, "Button, button, who's
got the button?" Presumably, I'll get that all settled before the next
contest (IARU).
I have some concern about logging errors. Poor copy was the problem.
I asked for repeats, calls and serials, until I was satisfied, but that
doesn't mean I got everything right. We'll see.
