Comments:
Was not sure until Friday that I could operate because line noise had been at
least S6 in all directions peaking 59+15 to northeast on 6 and 2. However,
Duke Power made a really big effort and worked on 12 different power poles
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (thanks Jeff!) and I had the lowest
line noise in several years, which made it really fun. Unfortuately, I had
made plans for both Saturday evening and for Sunday, so missed 6 hours of prime
6M Es. I think 6M here was probably the equal of 2010 when I had 248K without
that 6 hours off time. It was pretty hard to get a run going with low power on
six, especially without my voice keyer hooked up. 2M and above had little
activity and was flat except for good conditions to Florida on Sunday morning.
2M This spring I added a second M2 13 wl 432 yagi. The stacked yagis gave me
a noticeable improvement on 432 which now outperforms 222. I plan to improve
222 and 902/3 plus get 2304 running again for the UHF test.
Only had 3 skeds, and worked K3EOD on 2/222/432, but heard NIL from the other
two 3's. I like to have CW, SSB, and WSJT skeds in the September and January
tests, but take my chances with Es in June.
Thanks to the portable and rover stations. This weekend celebrates 54 years
since I first operated a VHF test!
