Comments:

The decision to save one trip to work ST0R on the last needed band (160m) and
swap it for WAE CW the next weekend proved to be the right choice!

QTCs availability was way down compared to 2010 most likely due to the
increased number of EU competitors because of the wrtc thing.

Fair condx. Most remarkable things were: super quiet 80 the 1st night, good
daylight opening on 15 the 1st day and nice nightime one on Sunday.
But...having 2 radios and 5 bands open one has to sacrify something between
QTCs, QSOs and Mults. Since in WAE it's QSOs, 15 and 20 early evening were left
for 40/80 AS/OC cqes, mult moves and skeds as well as odd 10mt openings.
This way stuff like KH2/N2NL, ZM1A, VK4CT, JH3PRR were logged on 80.

Mults heard, called but not worked: CE3FZ (10 + 80), XE2B (10).

10 was open to NA on Sunday (the sign was strong Es to NW EU). After waiting
and dual cqing (15 + 10) for over one hr, at 12z I got bored and asked to some
NAs on 15 to move on 10. KC1XX and VY2ZM were solid S-5.
It would be wise to check bands more!

Later on everybody moved to 10 but sigs were down here. I also got the feeling
both flat and hilltop competitors were doing it better: emergency low height
2el quad did his best but obviously lacked in both fwd gain and narrow
beamwidth to deal with noise level sigs.

Therefore given some pretty human hw used (ie. 1/4wl vert. on 80m and no rx
ants, 2el 10-15-20 quad) there was room to do even more.

This yr I missed the fine competition from DL1IAO especially on the QTCs side.
So, hopefully, I was left a chance to win WAE CW.
It came with a nice timing to draw with the rdxc 2011 results. It sucks to beat
two guys ahead b4 the log checking but missing to win after failing the 36 hrs
deadline cos of a laptop failure :-(
At least the world record was grabbed!

PS. "Summer time detective game"

STEP NR 1
An interesting spot abt IR4X came out on Sunday evening with swearing words
against myself. Contacting the claimed author (IZ4AFW) we came out to the fact
that someone else used his call.

STEP NR 2
We also noticed his call (IZ4AFW) was used to put out 4 spots during IARU HF
2011.
Fabio himself (IZ4AFW) said that these 4 spots as well weren't coming from
him.
It is interesting to note that the spots were all abt IO4HQ (160mt SSB)

STEP NR 3
Incidentally in July 2010 someone posted a bogus 3830 report abt IUxHQ using my
call. Those days due to some luck I got the IP address in my hands: 2.115.70.50.
It's a public static IP which belongs to a block registered to "ELETTRONICA
CORTESI SRL".

STEP NR 4
A man (ham) which works at "Elettronica Cortesi Srl" is also the IO4HQ IARU
2011 (160mt SSB) host and operator.
