Comments:
Fun. Conditions were pretty good for this contest and this was my best contest
to date with my most QSO's. 10m and 15m were both low noise and loud. I had
very little luck on 20m and 40m. If I heard a JA station calling I was able to
work it. Got all but 6 of the prefectures.
Extremely strong winds here busted the ladder line attached to my coax balun 3
times which took a while to fix. In fact, ladder line is still flapping in the
wind right now after the contest... The antenna has never busted before and has
been up over a year in some very similar windy conditions so I am not sure why
this led to failure today. Trees are moving around crazily.
Operated for 7 hours 90% of it was S&P because I had a (fussy) 3 week old kid
on me for a while. It's a little hard to type 1 handed as you jiggle up and
down while standing and pressing a foot pedal - but I got better at it!.
Eventually, I ran for a while at a good time near the end of daylight
conditions, was spotted and had a steady flow of new calls. Hooray! QSOs were
rising, alas, dinner and crying kid called and there went the run. I look
forward to next year and improving my score.

Jeff KL2HD
