GREATEST SOCIAL INNOVATION OF THE CENTURY
In summer 1963, after my junior year in college, using the guise of checking
out graduate schools, I spent about eight weeks driving around the country.
When I arrived in California I saw something I had never encountered before in
any state I had ever been in. I thought at the time that this was the greatest
social innovation of the 20th century. I still believe today that the greatest
social innovation of the 20th century was RIGHT TURN ON RED.
Only twelve years into the new century, I have discovered the greatest social
innovation of the 21st century RADIO CONTESTS ON A WEDNESDAY.
