Comments:
Congratulations to the K3LR team for a superb winning effort.
The closeness of our scores at different locations and unique
propagation conditions continues to amaze.
Extreme QRN from a line of nearby thunderstorms for most of the
first night and an unstable interplanetary magnetic field during
the entire 48 hours made this a very challenging contest for
even the most experienced DX contesters. Congratulations to
everyone who persevered despite the challenges of operating
under unusually difficult conditions.
160, 80 and 10 meters were hard hit by poor propagation during
the entire contest and 15 meters was significantly degraded
on Sunday. Most of our 200 European QSOs on 10 meters were
weak signals via the skew path to the east and southeast.
Our eight 10 meter JA QSOs were via the long path over the south
pole. Most of our 160 meter and many of our 80 meter QSOs required
multiple repeats to dig weak fading signals out of the noise.
We're looking forward to improved propagation and no thunderstorms
in October and November.
