Comments:

Many thanks to our gracious host Rob K1RH for letting us set up on his beautiful
20 Acre field. Rob and his son Robert did the majority of the heavy lifting
including the installation of the two AB/621 towers!

Our antenna lineup consisted of: 3 elements on 20, 4 elements on 15, ZERO
elements on 10 (never made it off the ground), and dipoles on 40 & 80. We also
installed a 20m dipole for CW operation and ended up using a K3WI inspired far
field vertical to HEAR through the 20m SSB station.

Rob's son Robert got his new (used) Mustang this weekend so he had a real
conflict of interest!

Rob's young sons Matt, Nick and Doug all made QSOs on the radio, one
particularly memorable one was with a very patient man named Barry, WR3Z who
was working 80 meters at W3AO when a young man stopped by to call him - thanks
Barry!

We had our share of visits by Murphy however in the end we triumphed and ended
up using a networked copy of N1MM (a field day first!) - and also set up M/M
style so we were all within earshot of one another. Bill K3WI did his usual
stellar job staying in the chair cranking out CW QSOs while Rob K1RH piloted
20m SSB. Joe N3YIM took turns on 40m SSB...and Rob K3RCH relieved his Dad of
20m SSB duty in the evening hours.

I (WX3B) had planned to FEAST on the huge 15 meter SSB pileups and there were
none to be found which immediately caused me to QSY to 40 where the rates were
better....and eventually CW where the points were better.

20 and 40 were definitely taking on an extra load this year from all the 15
meter defectors!

Thanks again to Rob K1RH and his family for a great field day!

73,

Jim Nitzberg WX3B
