All my operating plans changed shortly after starting. No way to back up and
change information. I decided to just go for the sweep and that took a couple
of days of a few hours here and a few hours there. My heart was never really in
it from the start. I hope that someday the contest organizers will consider SO2R
a totally separate category for competition. Technology is moving to the right
and allowances have been made for it (technology) but not for the
classifications of the participants. Single Op, single radio should compete in
their own class and single op two (or more) radios should compete in their own
class. The only point I'm trying to make is that there are many single op's who
for what ever reason, cannot operate SO2R. I'd like to think that contest
participation for me would be at some modicum of equality of resources rather
than the situation that exists today. I have absolutely no problem with the
SO2R concept as it relates to the hobby only as it relates to the competition.
This has had to affect the attitudes of many folks who otherwise would still be
interested in the contesting facet of this hobby.
