Comments:
Did not work a single station from TX (or OK); but multiple Q's from MS and LA
and AR. Same story for MN.
For first time ever, the WL rate meter exceeded 300 for brief periods on SSB.
But on CW there were many times with rates of 180/min, so more net points per
minute.
In the closing minutes managed to add BC and WA on CW and several CA's on
backscatter with beam pointed toward Pacific. But couldn't raise OR, or ID,
and never heard MT or WY. Sporadic E provided CO; W7UT was strong briefly but
no joy because he was S&P when heard.
Most frustrating moment was hearing FK8CP announce, on SSB, that he was moving
to CW . . 50.116! Couldn't raise him on SSB even though he was S-7 Sat night.
Only Asian mult worked beside JA was YB on SSB Sunday afternoon just before
close. But zero JA's Fri and Sat afternoon/evening and most JA's on Sunday had
numbers below 150; last year had 150 Q's on Friday night, mostly JA's; this year
only 26. Sat evening, ZL's suddenly surged to S-9 after the VK's disappeared 30
min earlier. Just one Eu contact and maybe two Africans, an EA8 and 9J2BO on
Sunday both answered CW CQ's.
Managed to just exceed my 2012 CQP score by 3,000 points.. . kind of sad for
10m near the cycle's sunspot peak.
