Comments:
I spent 90% of my time running in this contest which meant that I had lots of
time to multi-task waiting on stations to call. At times, the contest was about
as much fun as watching paint dry. I had to stop several times due to the slow
run rates and take a break. There were a couple of hours of great run rates
(230/hour on rate meter) when the "band was open". Otherwise, it was like a
Worked all South America contest plus a W4 or W2 QSO party.
I worked a lot of Minnesota stations, almost all of them were in the noise. I
was pleasantly surprised to have a significant number of ZS stations call me
during runs as well as a V51.
I enjoyed working all my friends in CE2. Their signals were strong here.
My new antenna system is working well. I left the antennas 60/120 for most of
the contest except for the late afternoon runs to LU/CE/CX where I turned the
top yagi to 160.
This was my first contest using no spotting assistance. I enjoyed tuning the
bands not knowing what I might find. I am sure that not using spotting kept my
multiplier numbers lower than others but I enjoyed the running and many of the
mult's came anyway.
I appreciated the civility of this contest.
