Comments:
Frustrating evening, but in the end did ok. Pleased to work N3BB/m on 40. . he
got clobbered by RTTY just as he sent his number but managed to pull it out
somehow.
160 was odd . when i went there with 2 mins left, N6RO was calling CQ, and
K0UK answered but no response from Ken, so eventually popped a cq on frequency
. lo an behold Bill came write back for the CO mult. Final qso was with k6ufo
who had a very readable 5w signal. Likewise on 80 managed to work our other
QRP NSr KE0G wihtout too much difficulty. could have grabbed W7OM, but would
have involved rubber clocking so didn't do it. Should have left 80m a minute
earlier, and tarried less on 20m.
We have to concentrate on this rubber clocking issue . . . I suspect it's
mostly enthusiasm, but it's not really fair to others. What I do is to let the
logging window fill most of the screen, but keep the Windows clock displayed on
the right hand side. So can check time without looking away.
Have been plaqued by the noise on 160 and 80 spaced at 20 KHz intervals when
using the Beverage, just as described in the current QST. Can't imagine where
this is coming from; nearest neighbor is half mile away, but some new equipment
has been installed in their vineyard. Started suddenly a couple weeks ago.
