First RTTY contest for me. Lots of fun, mostly S&P. N1MM logger and MMTTY are
great combination. Thanks loads to AD5ST, AD5XD and K5ND for their advice
before the contest -- it helped me be relatively prepared for this first foray
into RTTY contesting. I had planned to use FSK, but last weekend when I opened
up the TS-2000 accessory connector to connect to the FSK input, I was puzzled
as to how to solder onto 2 of those 13 pins in the 1/2" diameter connector. A
search of the TS-2000 discussion group revealed that I wasn't the first to have
that problem. Some were cutting away unused pins or using a hack-saw to shorten
outer pins. The best advice I saw was to order a pre-wired cable (wired to the
connector but open wires on the other end). So that's what I did. Didn't have
time to wire up the cable before the contest, so used AFSK. Hopefully it will
be FSK the next time.
