Comments:

A contest full of *memorable* little events, of which I can hardly remember any
[although exchanging serial numbers with my RAC counterpart in BC sticks in my
mind. What are the odds for that happening.]

I tried to run as much as I could but my antennas are limiting, so I spent a
LOT of time on the prowl. The only station (that didn't move me) to make it
into my log on 5 bands was my friend Bud VA7ST. Otherwise, there were a lot of
operators who were very quick to ask for a QSY and I was more than happy to
comply. Having said that, the only other station to get VE1RAC on five bands
was VE3EJ. I worry about the front end of the K3 with John's signal so I am
quick to get him out of the way ;-)

Any of you old guys remember when there was a world map in grade school that
showed the British Empire of old with all the associated countries coloured in
red? I worked about 25 of them in BERU 2013. Every new one was a little
thrill and evocative of my vision of what these far-off and mysterious lands
were like, based on a lot of reading and a mental picture of those old maps of
my youth.

Big thanks to RSGB for continuing to support the BERU contest, whatever its
proper name is. I doubt that the term *BERU* will ever go away even after all
the old-timers are QRT.

Equipment: K3 + P3 + mostly an 80M dipole fed with ladder line.
