Comments:
Power transformer failed in the amp at about 2300 Saturday evening. I took the
amp apart and did not operate much after that. I did not go out until about
1600 Sunday. After all, I probably couldn't work anything barefoot. Was that
ever wrong. The rate meter went over 250! But then the thunderstorms came
right away and the rain static was S-9 on the upper antennas, not to mention
the huge cloud to ground strikes near by.
All in all, it was fun. I was surprised by several calls from the Caribbean
and a bunch of XEs even though I was not pointed in their direction. I think I
probably got a couple of new countries on 6m. This was a shakedown cruise
before the July CQ VHF.
